Both TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) and UDP (User Datagram Protocol) are transport layer protocols of OSI Model. TCP and UDP both handle data communication on IP network (Internet). Both have same purpose but actions for doing the task is different. In this article we will explain about TCP and UDP and their differences. Continue reading

Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP)
What is SMTP?
Simple mail transfer protocol (SMTP) is TCP/IP application layer protocol using TCP port 25. It is used to sending and receiving e-mail over the Internet to another SMTP server. But SMTP has limitation in ability to queuing the messages at receiving end, so POP or IMAP are used. Generally SMTP is used for sending the e-mails and POP or IMAP for receiving the e-mails. This project is established by Advanced Research Project Agency (ARPA) in 1960. Before it was a known as (ARPANET) Arpa-netwrok. ARPANET developed and called TCP/IP. TCP/IP developed before OSI reference Model. It is also called DOD Model (Department of Defence ). Continue reading

OSI Reference Model
All networks are use in today are based on concept of Open System Interconnection (OSI) Reference Model developed in 1984 by ISO (International Organization of Standards). Instead, ISO decided to established a common reference model for which other could then develop detailed interfaces, which in turn could become standards. Continue reading
CSMA/CD ” Carrier Sense Multple Access with Collision Domain “
CSMA/CD is a Media Access Control (MAC) protocol that defines how network devices respond when two devices attempt to use a same channel simultaneously and cause a data collision. It is a basic rule that prevent the lose of information and save bandwidth from collision on Ethernet Networks. Continue reading
Types of Network Devices
Network devices are capable of control the signal, how they are going, where to going and how to maintain the transmission of signal. This are the roles each network devices may have in different way. Some devices may have the this feature or some may not. So lets check out all Network Devices with their purpose in this post.
